Screw top DJ?

OK so I've just collected a freecycle lot.

In it there is a DJ which has a screw top thread, normal bungs still fit, but why the screw top? Any ideas?

(no actual screw top with it though)

i allude to my "half gallon DJ's" thread.

the original 24 x 1 gallon dj's that where advertised, nearly all had screw tops, plus all of the unexpected 403 1/2 gallon ones where of a screw top type.

they came from a commercial cider maker north of Battle.........actually you can still get the cider from "Middle Farm".........

but it's definitely that normal bungs fit them as well
