  • Sugar stick

I have just had a breakthrough. Just occasionally I dissolve 8 kg of sugar in 20 liters of water, and quite frankly it can be time consuming getting it to dissolve. The same applies to the many kilos of sugar I sometimes need for chapitalising.

This might be old news for some, but I have just discovered a plaster paddle on a cordless drill.

    Fantastic!

I wonder if the added gypsum will aid in the clearing and reduce acidity a bit too!

I'm assuming this was new, unused in any way and not the painted/enamelled kind?

i was thinking of getting one for punching down caps in 5 gallon buckets, overkill possibly though

Mine is the painted/enameled - bright red in fact. There is not a problem with painted/enameled, as long as its clean. Lots of wine making equipment is painted - stainless is easier to clean and doesn't rush it the paint comes off thus copes better with continual washing.

It was about a £5. I have used it for various things in winemaking in the past - mainly as you say pushing down caps and recently for mushing down 20l of melons and now.... mising sugar.

          Marvelous tool
