  • My new hydrometer is backwards...what gives?

It starts off at 100 at the top and ends at zero near the bottom (near the bulb). Also says Alcohometer on it? But the instructions do say hydrometer, but no mention of SG, and the scale seems off, tiny increments near zero, with larger increment spaces towards 100?

Ric, it is likely a spirit hydrometer, ranging usually between 20 & 100 % alcohol.
Hey ho can't be 100% sure unless I could see/test it.

Yep most likely a pope and trail style. It should be marked on the paper inside.

Bugger, didn't realise there were different ones for spirits, i bet it is, I was in a rush and saw hydrometer shape and just picked it up

Wasting money, accompanied with the utter disappointment at my sweet citrus entry for the comp means I've had to open a bottle of lychee wine to compensate
