We don't worry about if bottles match or not. They all go to the wine rack in the cellar, so no one really sees them. When we give wine away we try to give the bottles that don't stack well on our rack. This way we don't care if we get them back or not.

I find the best way to clean used (but new to you) bottles is to give them a rinse with the "bottle Blaster" to remove any crud from the bottle. Then a soak in a chlorinated cleanser will sanitize them, followed by a good rinse. If there is any stuck on stuff, you may have to use a bottle brush inside them.
If the bottles are your own, then rinse them immediately after emptying with relatively hot water a couple of times. Then you can allow them to dry.
Store them upside down in the box, and rinse with K-meta sanitising solution before filling.
You can purchaes (new) bottles in a number of locations; your local wine stores, Costco (when the road shows are in town), and at local grocery stores such as (Save On Foods). Each of the places I have mentioned will have their sales on bottles from time to time, so watch for the sales and purchase your bottles then.
My preference is used bottles, you can't beat the price.
My friends and family help me recycle commercial bottles mostly. I also use recappable beer bottles. I have approx. 45 cases clean empty bottles in the garage. 90% wine bottles, some beer.
I don't use anything with chlorine anywhere around my wine or winemaking equipment and supplies.

Try your local pub, restuarant or wine bar. Saves them going to the bottle bank. If desperate haunt said bottle bank at a time you think it'll be busy and snaffle the bottles before they reach the bin
Check out brewgenie.co.uk they are selling them (new) for £12 for 30 or £14 for 35
where in the UK are you? is it wales I can't remember. If you are close to me you can have some of mine...I have about 1,200 and more due soon when i pick up this months. If i dont use the bottles he provides for me then i make the effort to still collect them and I take them to the bottle bank, keeps him sweet and always giving me the bottles.
When I used to buy them my supplier had them 2nd hand for 30p each...brand new for 45p each.
I get mine from a place I do some work at occasionally, it saves him going to the bottle bank.
maybe your local wine bar will let you have their empties..it saves them the trip to the bottle bank.
If you want some of mine you are welcome to collect.(free)

Im not cool with the Idea of getting bottles from a Bank or somwhere as I dont know where theyve been, or even what theyve been used for in the past...
