  • Bugs in elderflowers

What's the best way to get little beasties out of the elderflowers before using them?

Did the bag method yesterday and I intend to add the harvest to 5 gallon of wine no 1 but I don't wish to add the bugs to the wine too.
With Grape flavour comes grape responsibility

Grape Wines are permitted to have a certain percentage of MOG (material other than grapes) which includes bugs and rodents!

dont think you can get rid of most of them, fermentation, fining and filtration and 12% alc will take care of any nasties

If the pesky little bleeder is in the container with the grapes, it can be pressed along with everything else.
You can always tell which wines have rodents in them, as they are the ones that get you rat-arsed

Is that what is known in the trade as "Adding Body" to a wine?

One of my mates at the old alma mater (Heriot-Watt) Got a blacement at a well known Scottish Brewery, known for producing cheap peewater. Needless to say I don't drink their beer anymore.

As far as bugs, obviously you haven't tried Army Worm Wine.

                  I kid you not.

Much worse. Parsnip only tastes like worm poo. With Army Worm Wine, worm poo is guaranteed to be on the ingredient list.

Regrettably, I wasn't invited to partake in that event.
