    if steaming elderberries how far do you need to go in removing from stalks. i still take berries off stalks but wondered if i could just steam them on stalks

    I have never had any problems but I tend to remove all stalks. and rinse a number of times to get rid of all the bits of stalk floating around.

      I flick the berries off the stalk with a fork or afro comb (only use left for one ) so that there's either just the tiny bit connected to the berry.

      Then they're floated in water to rinse, but also you'll find that unripe ones float the ripe ones sink, then you can just scoop the rejects off with a small sieve.

      Then fire up the steamer......

      Haven't had any problems so far.....
