Aaaarg getting a pain. Why have I never had this problem and only really come across it being discussed here. Does it only apply to fruit based wines?

PS A lot of HBS now do Easy still spares, the replacement stones for them come in the ideal quantity.

          No...
it applies to all wines, but red grape wines are the least difficult to degas, black cherry is the worst I've come across

Is that because red wine making invloves using some form of brewbelt to keep the heat up and more c02 can escape?

Not necessarily a brew belt, but I think you may have something there as red wine is normally fermented at 30c !

Does a warmer gas escape more easily within a warmer liquid - is there a fluiddynamicist in the house !!

DOH! .and I use a pump for racking (everything)!!

I do believe so. There more heat the faster things move generally so the gas can disperse quicker and won't be held in suspension.

                  yes

I'm pretty sure using the pump will degas it lots too

                  regards
