What is the difference in the 2 sugars mentioned? I thought that sugar was sugar? Confused.com

            Well

one is processed from sugar cane, the other is precessed from sugar beet. It is thought by some, that there is a rooty taste to the beet sugar

Tate and Lyle is the one to stick with - some supermarkets ALDI and LIDL especially will not always state what is in the bag.

So it should state on the bag if it is made from sugar cane or sugar beet? I can see I still have a lot to learn!!

Our local Lidl states cane sugar on their pack - Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrison's all seem to be "UK Local farmers" which is Beet, at least until global warming really kicks in!

Don't forget, Whitworths is also cane sugar. Plus the German/EU brand that I've seen in the local Lidl, is actually labelled as "cane sugar"......
