  • Variable Capacity Plastic Tanks

Anyone tried one of these yet? They look like an interesting alternative to stainless steel. Not sure if that's good or bad!

    Cheers,
    Dave.
If I won the lottery I'd spend half the money on wine, women and song.
But I'd probably just waste the rest of it!

Good find. I use the floaty lids on SS tanks and they can be a proper PITA brill but still a PITA.

Going to give these guys a ring, the grade & weight of the plastic is everything here. I have been trying to get hold of Flex tanks - but I cannot get any sensible prices just telephone numbers, with the euro sign in front !!

    I will report back.....Soon

The round lid floats and has a bicycle inner tube around the outside which you inflate to seal

I liked your idea of floating an inch of olive oil as a lid - is it a viable idea? Or would bugs be able to get through the oil, or even flies doing breast stroke?
Now bottling 20DJs of 2013 red and making room to rack 5 carboys of 2014 red to the DJs where they can wait for another winter.
Thank goodness for eBay! (local cache of DJs)

Yes. it is a very popular idea on the continent - it does seem to be very little uptake in the UK.
You do still need a dust cover lid. And you use a tap at the bottom of the tank (not a siphon tube through the oil)
Specialist 'wine oil' all for the purpose think it's about £6 a litre.
