  • Mango wine.

    Hello,

I have just bought 10 mangoes from Asda, which were reduced to 10p each. I couldnt leave them there. Does anyone have a recipe for a mandgo wine?

    Thanks

Chop them up as best you can into a straining bag, might be easier if you freeze them for a couple weeks first, mash them in your fermenting bucket best you can, add a gallon water, measure SG and adjust (1.085?) with honey, molasses, corn syrup, maple syrup, white sugar, brown sugar, or combination, check pH and acid if you have means, adjust if necessary, add pectic enzyme, yeast nutrient, 1 crushed campden tablet, stir very well and then stir very well again, make a yeast starter with your favorite yeast, stir the must very well again, pitch starter, cover with cloth held on tightly, rack to glass at SG 1.010 discarding fruit at that time...etc....etc....did I leave anything out?

OOOh, do you think it would work OK if I put the mangoes in a blender instead?

OOOh2, how many mangoes for a gallon?

I reckon you've got enough for 2 gallons. Have a look here.

I would mix in 3-6 cans frozen white grape concentrate and make 3 gallons.

                Leave the peels on.

3 if going for a dry wine, more if you are gonna sweeten at the end.

Yes, I am in the US, therefore I use US gallons.

US and Imperial are not the same.
