  • Mityvac

Anyone else use one of these?

I just took delivery of a mityvac (purchased on eBay) and used it on a batch.....WOW it does a great job, even though the wine is at low temps......similar to using the vac-u-vin but much much quicker.

I am going to try warming up a batch and using it to see how much more efficient it is.

    life is good

    regards

    Yup

    thats the one....

It's a vacuum pump, create a vacuum in the carbuoy and the CO2 is sucked out.

it actually sucks the air out of the demijohn/carbuoy creating a vacuum, making the CO2 leave suspension but its much more powerful than the vacuvin

I've been using it on the trebbiano in the workshop, and its cold in there, so lord knows how quick it will degas if the wine is warm

great tool (the mityvac not me)

Not sure if its fully degassed yet...

but used it twice (10 seconds a time) created vacuum and left it alone and it degassed loads each time...the vacuum eventually subsides....its fully degassed when the vacuum holds.

                will take pics soon
