  • CO2 emissions

This may sound stupid, but can the CO2 emissions from fermenting wine be harmful? I ask because when I move into my house in Southampton (next weekend hopefully) I will have my brewing stuff in my room (the kitchen is tiny). I won't have very good ventilation in my room - doors and windows will be shut at night (keeps out the spiders ) and I'd be a bit annoyed if I died due to carbon dioxide poisoning, if such a thing exists....

Incidentally, I developed a slight headache the other day when I had some fermenting cider in my room all day.......

No harm at all unless you're brewing mass quantities.

Ben I read a simular thread on winepress US the other day, I think there is more carbon dioxide present in your house through passing traffic out doors than your wine could produce in a year, or you inhale more by walking to the local shop, the list is endless, I doubt a little home brewing will do you any harm...

Everything in moderation dude, and good water consumption helps, de-hydration is the down side to alcohol and when most damage occurs. I f you wake in the morning and your urine is dark, then your de-hydrated and in need of water, which you should have drunk before going to bed. I always take a pint of water up to bed, as well as the wife of course.

Well, I normally just drink a pint before going to bed (anymore and ). Then in the morning I just drink about 4 pints in one go - so no hangovers for me.

              Pints of water, that is.

Drinking it could cause a headache, but the gases will do you no harm at all.

That's a great idea - I'll take my cactus with me; I'll probably remember to water more often as well.
