hi there , being a new boy and a bit of a numpty i bought a wine kit , a carafe 21 and followed the instructions hopefully to the letter, 24 hrs later unlike the other kit i bought at the same time nothing appears to be happening ie no bubbles in air lock . im gutted please help

No bubbles in the airlock means nothing, don't worry yet. You may not have an airtight seal, the yeast may not have woken up yet or the air pressure may be effecting the airlock. Did you check the gravity at the start? Give it another 24hrs then check it again, if the gravity is dropping then fermentation is taking place. In the mean time, give the must a gentle stir. Are you using a demijohn or a fermenting bucket?

its in a five gallon fermenter , the woman in the chemist looked at me funny cos of the amount of vaseline biggles told me to buy lol , have taken a reading now and so hopefully things will start to happen. and yes there is yeast added and water in the air lock , you guys lol , many thanks let you know whats happening later fingers crossed
