  • Riesling advice

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

    I have seen the light.

I am now a convert to Riesling.

I made a Wine Art kit, which I like. Even Rich pronounced it 'not bad'

Yesterday I invested a whole £6 for a bottle from Tescos. Absolutely fantastic stuff - really bright, crisp and fruity without being sickly sweet.

So, my mission for this year is to find a top-quality Riesling kit. Has anyone had any experience? Basically, I don't mind spending Proper money if the results will be aqnything like the shop-bought stuff.

The one I like is the Winexpert Washington Columbia Valley Riesling. Nice stuff.

      Pete:

Knowing what kits are available in the UK is a problem for me. Steve's WE Wash Riesling suggestion is probably an excellent choice (I would like to make it someday). I would also like to make the KenRidge Founders Series German Riesling. I know some folks that REALLY enjoyed that one.

If Winexpert's Limited Edition kits make it to the UK, look for their Alsatian Riesling. I haven't started my kit yet. Gotta get some bottling done this coming week.

If you like Rieslings, have you tried Gewurztraminer? I have a WE LE NZ Gewurztraminer and a Cheeky Monkey German Gewurztraminer on the go right now. I will probably make another Ken Ridge Showcase German Gewurztraminer sometime. There is also a Cellar Craft Washington Gewurztraminer that I have heard wonderful things about.

So goll darn many kits, and not enough time to drink 'em all.

      Steve

[BTW, all the above are 30 bottle (ie 5 Imp gallon) kits.]

Wine Expert Ltd Riesling is out in the next month or so if you can get hold of one.

I'll be making it I hope.

          Thanks Steve,

Gewurztraminer - yes, I'm quite partial to a bottle, but I find Rich's Lychee replica hits the spot.

WE Washington Riesling - do you mean this one?

          Thanks

              (thanks Rich too)

I made the Mosti Mondiale all juice Riesling and it came out great but if your looking for a semi sweet wine then you will have to sweeten this yourself as there is no sweetener pack for this. It was the Johannisburg.

So Wade, you're at yet another wine making forum. Taking over the world???
