    • A little sampler of recently-bottled Ancient Orange Mead.

      Not bad at all ...

      ... with a Glenmorangie chaser

      • Wine number one, that I had lightly oaked.
        Not bad

Will be bottling the rhubarb later...
And some Elderberry and Blackberry mix too...

I expect a little taster of those will be in order

this wine is just plain weird

it veers from very tasty to downright awful, and evolves by the week.
Tonight however it is fruity and smooth.

          go figure

            • Nothing.

I'm giving my liver a fighting chance for friday

EDIT: OK, just a small whisky then. Mortlach cask strength, about 30 years old now

ANOTHER EDIT: ... and a small Ardbeg cask strength. Just for comparison, you understand.

              • As a warm up for tomorrow, we've had a bottle of Petit Verdot, (kenridge kit) between us. Now thats gone, just opened a bottle of Winexpert Barolo.

Petit Verdot is good, coming round nicely

                • So far today...

Tasted a bottle of '07 Monte. Very good. Seemed slightly gassy, so it's now got a vacuvin in it till later.

Then, a bottle of Goldseal's '08 Grenache. Oak aged. Still quite oaky but not too much, will intergrate well over time I'm sure.

Hmm, not good it's only 1500Hrs.. this good be a fun afternoon/evening, the kitchen is full of bottles to try

It was a Sangiovese, not a Grenache, but other than that .... what he said

Now on the Trebbianos from Grapefest 08. I'll let Rich tell you about those.

                      • Very geeky now, Now using Goldseal's wireless BB thanks..

                        Open my Treb '08 and '07 and Goldseal's '08.

GS '08 first, very rounded tasting, due to the batonage.

Rich '08, very sharp, more than likely the amount of acid I added, very nice though.

Rich '07, Tastes a bit flabby today. Going to try 1/2 tsp acid in it.

                        Lychee wine next...

                        • Lychee: awesome

Aromatic but crisp, not cloying. If mine comes about half as good as this I'll be happy.

                          • From the entire afternoon tasting, the lychee bottle is now empty, the others have vacuvin stoppers in.

A bottle of Amerone to be had with the Lasagne. Yum

Currently sampling my Magnum+ ( a Mangum kit with Sangiovese skins from Grapefest). OK for 30p/bottle.
