scruffiness/patchiness etc in the early stages is the norm. but you'll know what's right for you and Mrs G .... i don't think homebrewers will shed their beard rep cos you shave yours off

They do itch as they are growing. If you're using the electric razor to shave the beard, be careful as they don't half pull the hairs. Depending upon hair length, shave it in stages.“Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana!”
