  • Fruit identification please

My garden was overstocked by the previous owner, and I regularly find plants being smothered by other plants (e.g. I now have a source of Elderflowers/berries just outside my door).

We have a tree which I reckon is 20ft tall, and is dropping blackberry-like berries at the moment. I meant to do some research this time last year, but got side-tracked.

Anyway, here are a few photos. I think I know what it is, but can a better gardener than me (i.e. almost anyone) confirm what it is, whether the fruit are edible (and therefore fermentable ) please?

EDIT: The berries are around blackberry size, maybe a bit bigger

The ripe fruit is edible and is widely used in pies, tarts, wines, and cordials.

It should be noted that I am by no means an expert and you should hold off eating a handful until someone else responds.

They are clearly highly toxic. If you collect them all (freeze them to.. uh stop the toxic rays leaking out) you can send them to me for diposoal...

...so if they're Mulberries, and you make wine with them, would that mean that you'd made Mulled Wine?
