  • Syphon Tubes & Cleaning

OK, how do you lot clean a syphon tube?

how thorough are you? what do you use?

aqua, what i do is stick one end up the tap and the other end being lower, turn the tap on for about 10 seconds to wash everything out, then to dry it out, hold one end twirll it round like a lassoo (pardon the spelling) to throw out the remaining water.

This is the way i find works best for me.

No second guesses for the mental image

No i don't sterilise the tubes at all, my own thinking being that its abit over the top, but i not sure what other people do, so far i've had no problems in the manner in which i clean the tubes. But i would get advice from other people as to there methods.

              aye seems like it

I'm just having a sinking feeling about my cleaniness of the equipment (not of me, I'm clean and tidy )

              So I thought I'd ask

I always lightly sterilise the syphon tube.
Hold both ends together and fill with steriliser solution with a jug then clip together using a bulldog clip and hang from a kitchen cupboard door.
Then rinse well putting the one end up the tap and switching on. Yes you'll get wet!
I also replace the syphon regulary as the do deteriorate quite rapidly and after all the whole of your beer or wine does come into contact with the whole of the interior surface.

I have sterilised them normally, fill with solution and leave for a bit and rinse

it just seemed a lot of sodding hassle when your going between dj's

                          I'm being lazy again aren't I?

i see no harm in what your doing aqua, it shows you care about the wine your making and not taking short cuts, good on yer.
