Has anyone made any wine from hawthorn? There's loads in the hedge at my allotment and wondered if it was worth picking them to make wine from.

I've been looking around, mainly for sloes, which last year, where everywhere. This year I've seen virtually none - there's still a few places to look, but in the meantime the hawthorn berries are not only vvv abundant, but also looking quite a bit larger than usual so I'm presuming that the wet summers done them the world of good.
I've got a book somewhere that makes reference to them so I'll have to dig it out and check to see what it says (I remember that it's a bit vague but it definitely refers to them).
