  • fruit cocktail

Hey, I'm new to this site, but I'm constantly checking it out. I'm a bit new to wine-making too.

Anyway, I have these two 6 pound cans of fruit cocktail, and I'd like to make some wine from them. I haven't been able to find any recipes after a bit of searching, and I figured I'd ask here if anybody had any suggestions. I'm gonna email Jack Keller to see if he has a recipe, but I know he takes a while to get to his emails sometimes.

    Any ideas?

I don't understand this bit top up with cooled boiled water. Why?
Leaving a jug of tap water in the fridge overnight will drive off the residual chlorine.

Boiling will also drive off the chlorine. Many recipes are from overseas where wells and spring water is used, the boiling is a sterilising precaution also.

The chlorine, possibly, but what about chloramine..........

I keep fish so I need to remove both - in that instance I use a chemical remover product, surely it's no hardship to boil a little water and let it cool....

Plus it helps remove any calcium carbonate for those in area's of hard water......

You could always try making a batch of "Pruno"...

I think I did once, but luckily I threw it away!

Mind, I didn't have ketchup in it so it obviously wasn't authentic.
