My first Banana - help!

Ok so ive got some banana wine on the go and next week will be time for its first racking, however when I checked the demijohn this morning theres what looks like an inch of yellow furry type stuff on the bottom! This has only appeared in the last few days.

Im guessing some bacteria has gotten in somehow and its ruined?

Sounds more like dead yeast, which is normal.

Its part of the reason for racking. I wouldnt worry, but a picture might help someone here who actually knows a thing or two.

Best bet would be to take a bit out and taste it...

If it tastes ok it's probably the bananas...
They have a self clearing action, it might be to do with that???

As I recall, bananas drop quite a lot of sediment; I'd suggest racking, topping up etc as usual, and leave it to do it's thing.

A picture might help us just to be 100% sure...

It is the sediment, a bacterial infection would appear on the surface, not at the botton, its simply the solids precipitating out of suspension, and nothing to worry about.

Hi Guys,

Ahhhh been without my laptop the last couple of weeks or so its been like loosing a limb!!!! Thanks for your input, I did try and take a piccy but it didnt come out right.
