Tea towel or airlock?

Just put down my first batch of tinned fruit wine (Fruit Cocktail) in a 5L water bottle. Do I just cover the top with a tea towel for the first few days? At what point do I need to put an airlock onto it?

Airlock can go in now, but I tend to wait till about S.G. 1.010 (time till then with loose fitting lid...i.e. not snapped on

leaving an airlock off, or having tea towel etc is not allowing oxygen "into" the must....the oxygen it requires is already present....


(not a lot of people know that)
