Since you Euro guys like elderberries I would like to tell you we got a gold medal for our dried elderberry mead using tulip poplar honey and 35 us ounces of our own dried elderberries. Both the elderberries and honey were from our own farm which makes it even more enjoyable for us, kind of like people who grow their own grapes. We also pulled a bronze for an elderberry wine we added some chocolate to, it was very lightly flavored choc in the background, also with some oak, I think it was a bit overthetop and to differentfromwhatwehaveevertastedbefore for the judges. Its hard over here to get something for elderberries.
We also got another gold for our 100% juice from black raspberries (60%) and elderberry fruit (40%) plus tulip poplar mead, that is one of the best meads we have ever made and everything was from our farm to.
