The types that you normally get at garden centres might not be
the right type, they sell them mostly as decorative plants.

Vigo will deliver them to you if you buy 25

http://www.thevinehouse.co.uk will supply in smaller numbers
http://www.readsnursery.co.uk/ will supply in smaller numbers

              Pruning Grapes

I just finished pruning my Norton grapes They look like they have come thru the winter well very little cold damage. I have already started to water as it has been very dry this winter. All the pruned ends showed green and looked alive. I can't wait for spring this will be my first year of full prodution all 15 of the vines are at least 3 years old. I just put oak strips in this years wine after transfering to clean carboys. Let it sit a month and then taste it.
Wine is my job and I'm late for work.

One thing for sure is that it is going on also in the USA and Canada and I imagine in Europe. Is it a good thing? I have nothing against research and technology but some where along the line for the grape development industry there has to be an infinite end. There is land being redeveloped and taking away from great fruit orchards to house the grape vine. Holy cow, how much of the stuff can we drink? Do we not need apples, pears, peaches and the like any more?

The environment is changing, the climate is changing wine is becomming more popular as a drink in North America and if a grape can be developed that will grow fruitfully in most climates (cold of some parts of Canada) and be sweet and good wine then it will likely happen.

Ha! Ha! I think the only perfect wine is the wine that is made in our home brew locations at least thats the way I feel. Cheers DAW

Oh dear, I know that I could use some kind of a life booster in that sense but please don't fool with my wine yeast. I have just now finally discovered the benefits of different cultures and the advantages of yeast flavor enhancement. Cheers Kieth
