For the overseas shippers, I imagine this could get a bit expensive. A cost effective solution might be to consolidate all the overseas items into one shipment to a single contact point who can then disperse the goods domestically, rather than sending multiple shipments. Just an idea.

      Any thoughts or comments?

Has anyone sent wine transatlantic before? I don't have a very good feel for how this works. For example, are there customs or duty declarations to complete, etc.? I know that when traveling I always had to fill out paperwork upon returning home.

It's a weight issue...because of the vagaries of the UK postal system, it depends on the weight of the package that determines if you can send glass or not......... under 1kg glass isnt allowed. 2 to 5kg glass is allowed......seems silly, but hey ho not sure about the rules over 5kg.

we can sort it out though

                      OK

This thread appears to have lost its impetus, should we just do a pairing of people and take it from there?

please indicate how many bottles you wish to swap (you will receive the same number in return, but you will have to post yours to the recipient ypou are paired with.)

                      regards
                      Bob

                          just to remind everyone

The idea was that WAH would do a wine swap system. Everyone's name would be put in a hat and paired up with each other.

                          Rules:
                          • Must be a bottle of alchoholic beverage
                          • Doesn't need to be wine but must be along the same lines e.g. mead, Cyser etc
                          • You must have made the beverage or had a major hand in it
                          • You must be willing to pay the P&P to send your wine
These are the base rules but after all its for fun so if you have a problem just let me know.

I dont have a time frame yet, i will find out how many people are interested first.

So please post below your interest

And remember this is for fun and laughs so even if you think you can't make win as well as everyone else, its all about the enjoyment factor.

P.S. i can't be held accountable for any upset tummies lol, although i am sure it will be fine

                          Update:
Ok here is my idea we have 2 lists, one list is for people who are willing to send to Britain and one list is International
This is so people from across the pond in Canada and America, and those from mainland Europe can sample real drink

                          British Swappers:
                          Duffbeer
                          Rich
                          LockWood
                          Her Lushness
                          Richard S
                          Darren
                          BennyBoys Entourage
                          BennyBoy
                          Lytom
                          benarnold
                          biggles

                          International Swappers:
                          NorthernWiner
                          Lockwood
                          Duffbeer
                          Richard S

so how many bottles are you all contributing?

                          numbers please

Well, I'll send one red and one white to whoever I get paired with, provided that's not you or Richard s, as I've drunk enough crap from you both over the last year
