  • Wines from diluting juice

    Hi

I'm making a wine just now from diluting juice (Blackcurrants) and Red grape juice (not concentrate). Has anyone else given this a try with other flavours?

I boiled the juice first to get rid of the sodium met and its working really well, makes me want to try a few more styles/flavours.

    ChrisG:

What did the starting sg end up as?

You probably didn't need to boil to get rid of the Na-meta. Sit overnight and stir vigourously.

Think it started at around 1.090.

I am drinking one as we speak. I opted for vimto cordial, I was only going to do one gallon but found the added sugar had taken the SG off the chart so had to dilute down firstly into a second DJ then into a third giving a SG of 1088.

I let it ferment down to 992, sweetened upto 1000 with cordial. I moved it to the garage to clear, first DJ gone within a week. It looks like a dark rose and is quite refreshing drink when chilled.

I must admit to being pleasantly surprised and will without a doubt make this again.
