  • Christmas in July

    Hi

Anybody know where I can get a Xmas pud at this time of year. I really want ot try some xmas pud wine but fear I will have to make one myself as tescberries are no use.

    cheers

    Mark

ps. could I use raisins, and mixed peel in a wine #1 instead?

I had the same conundrum until SWMBO stumbled across one in the Outlaws radiation cupboard.

I'd have thought it would have been relatively easy to source one online, but, not so.

There are some, but a bit pricy:

Perhaps a freecycle request? You never know!

I hope your pud and yourself make wonderful wine together. (and if so, can I have a bottle?).

                Mark,

It's July, so I'm sure the supermarkets will be stocking christmas stuff in the next couple of weeks

Raisins/mixed peel in a Wine No.1 won't work. I have never tried, but Wine No.1 is a light-bodied wine, made using a different technique.

Sit tight - the puddings will be along soon

I shall sit tightly then and await the predicted xmas bonanza.

                  cheers

                    well

it has often been suggested that using just the crimbo pud ingredients might work, but im not sure it would be quite the same.... but if you make it that way, i would be intrigued to taste it against a real version

I bought mine in January when they are selling them offf cheap...

i.e. marks and sparks select puds for £1 (I know this doesn't help now, but a good tip for future years)

Where in Kent are you? I can get a spare pudding to Abbey Wood if you're close by to fetch it?

I'm sure that sending something as heavy as Xmas pud thru the post would be expensive but if you are any where near South Wales you are welcome to it. Take the Brandy sauce too..lol

Thank you both for the kind offers.

I live near canterbury and try to avoid London these days. I shall instead experiment with some XMAS pud ingredients and tie them in a pair of tights to reduce mess.

I have no idea what the real stuff tastes like so when I have bottled mine, I will be up for a bit of a wine swap with anyone who fancies the challenge.

                          Thanks again

Make sure you use dirty tights, the cheese smell will help amalgamate the other ingredients to produce a fuller bodied wine...

(And if you believe that, then good luck to ya!)
