Some good shine made round these parts also. Clear as water and actually tastes good. We like to put a pint of the shine into a ripe watermelon and keep it in the fridge for a day, then eat. WOW is it good!!!

I had been ill and was recovering from a spat in intensive care. I was mooching round for things to do, occupy my mind, that were achievable. I saw that someone was giving away some demijohns on freecycle and thought "that's it!"

So when I'm sitting there sozzled after partaking of my creations, I will be warm and safe in the knowledge that it is for therapeutic reasons!

It was made on the hearth in my digs the year before we got married. We were too busy saving up for cutlery etc (You did in 1970). My landlady lit the coal fire ready for me coming in from school so it bubbled nicely all evening while we (>>>use your imagination!) and then when he went home and I went to bed (another thing you did in 1970) the room got cold and the wine slowed down till the next evening. Cann't remember what it tasted like but we were hooked!
