    Trial and error ???

How about half a kilo and then retest, that should give you some idea of the likely amount you'll need.....

8oz of sugar will lift 1 gal of wine 0.018 on the hydrometer

I reckon 1 1/4lb of sugar will get you near enough to not worry about the difference

        Your hydrometer is your friend!!!!!!

(calculations would indicate 881g of sugar)

if there is 7-8 ltr with skins this would equate to less than 5 ltr juice so 3/4 ld sugar should take 5ltr up by .027 giving 1.077

If you want to convert different scales and calculate additions, try this online calculator:

Click on the sugar tab, enter your amounts, and units. Easy peasy.

              Yikes!

sorry Ian I thought you meant 7-8 litres of juice

then you likely have around 1 gal juice after removal of pulp

then 8 0z wul lift you 0.018 so 1 lb (454 g) of sugar will be enough i think...lifting your SG by 0.038 taking you to 1.088

I'd be wary of them being possibly crossed with haggis. Haggis wine is never a good thing! Its almost as bad as parsnip so I here

Haggis wine is great, as long as you remove all the bones......
